Jon Baiocchi leads private fly fishing trips, and group outings with other qualified and licensed guides for all levels of fly anglers, including kids on the spectacular waters of Northern California. Lake Davis, Frenchman Lake, the Middle Fork Feather River, the Lower Yuba River, the Truckee area, the North Fork Yuba River, as well as their smaller tributaries are the main venues offered.
Baiocchi’s Troutfitter’s seasonal home is conveniently located about 60 miles northwest of the Lake Tahoe/Reno area in the beautiful Northern Sierra Nevada at 5,000 feet elevation, near the quaint mountain town of Graeagle. You’ll not only find excellent fly fishing in the area, but also numerous options for golfing, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, and camping. During the winter, Jon resides in the Nevada City/Grass Valley area to be able to guide on the Lower Yuba River which offers the best winter dry fly fishing in the state of California .

Guided Fly Fishing Destinations
Services & Rates – 2021
Baiocchi’s Troutfitters will provide complete fly fishing instruction, all terminal tackle (flies, leaders, tippets, etc.), and boats when applicable. Local inside knowledge of waters, hatches, flies to be fished, techniques and tactics included. Jon’s philosophy is that it’s his guest’s day, and will fulfill their desires no matter what it may be.
Full day trips will entail eight hours of guided fly fishing by boat, personal watercraft, or walk/wade. Half day trips will entail five hours of guided fly fishing by boat, personal watercraft, or walk/wade for the morning, mid-day or the evening rise. We will meet onsite at a predetermined location and time. No matter what type of trip you book, if the fishing’s hot, we keep fishing no matter the time! Catch and release angling and barbless hooks are encouraged.
2 Anglers maximum per trip/guide.
However, I can accommodate more than two anglers with additional guides. Exceptions can be made, depending on the experience of the anglers, and the type of trip.
Pricing is as follows:
Full Day: $150 for 3rd angler
Half Day $100 for 3rd angler
-Lunch, snacks, and drinks provided on full days. Snacks, and drinks provided on half days.
-Complete rods and reels are available for use if you do not have one, including specialized Euro Nymphing rods.
-Waders and boots may be provided if the sizes are available at no additional charge.
-Fishing license and steelhead cards are NOT included. Purchase online here.
-Custom trips can be booked in advance for specific fly fishing techniques, groups, or areas of special interest.
-Full day, 1 or 2 anglers, $475, Half day, 1 or 2 anglers, $375
-Trolling Flies by Boat, 1 or 2 anglers: Full day, $475 / Half day, $375
Release forms must be signed and dated before any guest of Baiocchi’s Troutfitters can enter a creek, river or lake.

Deposit and Cancellation Information
Payments and Deposits
A $150 deposit is required on the day you book your fishing trip, the remaining balance is due on the day of your trip. Initial deposit can be made via PayPal, Venmo, or by mailing a check made out to Jon Baiocchi. Please come prepared with Cash or Check to complete your payment on the day of your trip, no credit cards will be accepted.
Please note a 3% transaction fee will be applied to all PayPal and Venmo payments.
Once a date is mutually agreed upon, and the trip is booked via phone call, text, email or private messenger, it is implied that the client agrees to Baiocchi’s Troutfitters payment and cancellation policy.
I have a 30-day cancellation policy. For cancellations made outside of 30-days, your deposit can be applied to a future trip or you may choose a refund of your deposit. Cancellations made inside of 30-days will result in forfeiture of your deposit, unless your trip is rebooked with another party. Baiocchi’s Troutfitters will assist in finding a replacement party. However, the original booking party is ultimately responsible for finding a replacement in order to receive the deposit back. When booking, please keep in mind that Fly Fishing is an outdoor activity and adverse weather conditions can be part of the experience. We do not cancel trips due to adverse weather or other situations outside of the guide’s control. However, if the weather/water conditions are dangerous and/or unfishable, the guide will make the decision to reschedule your trip. For emergency circumstances that may arise, we will postpone the trip, and reschedule to a future date. Rescheduled trips will need to be rebooked within 30-days of the original booked date and do not warrant a refund of your deposit. If a “no call / no show” occur, you will be charged for the remaining balance. Donated trips cancelled within 30-days will be forfeited in full.
Your guide works extremely hard at trying to ensure that your experience is both entertaining and educational. Gratuities/tips are always welcome and greatly appreciated. They are common practice in the guiding industry and are based upon your overall experience and enjoyment of your trip. Tips are generally separate from payment.
Planning Your Trip – Stuff to Bring
-California fishing license. A Steelhead Card is required for the Lower Yuba River. Purchase one online here.
-Sunscreen, hat and polarized glasses.
-Suitable clothing for that day’s conditions: hot sun to freezing temps.
-Complete rod and reel, 4-7 weight for most waters, 0-3 weight rods for the North Fork Yuba River, and creeks.
